Debate is a competition that each team will compete through arguments, cases, or problems regarding issues happening around using British Parliamentary System which there will be opening and closing team between affirmative and negative team. One team will consist of 2 debaters.

1. What is the system of this Debate Competition?
This Debate Competition will use British Parliamentary system.
2. What the platform that use by this Competition?
The Debate competition will be conducted by Herokuapp Tabulator Link, WhatsApp Group, and Zoom Meeting. For Final round it will be livestreamed in EEC UNILA Youtube Channel
3. For some reasons, my team can’t join the competition, but I had paid registration payment fully. Can I do refund?
a) The committee of EIA XXIII (2024) will not provide any refund for those who are quitting the competition or disqualified for any reason. Participants may do replacement along with this problems.
b) If the Debate competition will be canceled due to total participants issues or any technicalities that made this competition canceled, the registration payment will be refunded 100% to the participants.
4. What if I want to change the team member?
a) The participations who have been registered online can be replaced with a new participants but it can be allowed ONLY in the same branch competition, at the latest on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024 before the technical meeting started by sending the request of replacement to EIA XXIII (2024). Debate Competition’s e-mail address: eecinaction.debate@gmail.com, with the following subject: Replacement_(Debate Competition) and the following format body mail:

b) Any kind of related document that supports the participant’s reason must be attached within the email (e.g. signed medical permit from hospital, participant can send the document in an image form/PDF form). If the committee finds the reason as an acceptable reason, then the committee will send the approval of replacement request to the participant’s e-mail address.
5. Who is eligible to participate in Debate Competition in EIA?
EIA XXIII 2024 Debate Competition is open for all high school, varsity, and others in Indonesia with 52 teams as the maximum limit.

6. What are the wotions and when are they announced?
The motion will be announced after the settlement of each chamber.
7. How can I know about the match-up of the chamber?
The Committee will shared the match-up by sending the picture to WhatsApp Group or the participant could accessed personally through eiaxxiii.herokuapp.com followed by Zoom link to start the debate.
8. What if I have a question regarding to the motion?
If there is a question regarding to the motion and need to ask a question, you are allowed quickly type a question via WhatsApp group chat and the Adjudication Core will be able to answer you directly. Please note that your time to ask the clarification or wording of the motion is only valid before A-Core start to case building time.
9. What if my team is late to attend the competition?
A team will get walked out (WO) for being late or being unresponsive in maximum 10 minutes after case building finished. Meaning that the team will automatically get 4th rank on that round.
10. How can I know the result or decision?
The decision will be directly announced in every chamber by authorized adjudicator except the silent round. On this section, participant is not allowed to leave their rooms.
11. How can I get my personal feedback?
Personal feedback from adjudicator to the debater will take place personally via WhatsApp call or based on adjudicator-debater agreement within the stipulated time limit.
12. How can I know the breaking announcement?
Breaking announcement will be announced through Presentation Room in Zoom Meeting.
13. May I bring any observers?
​Participants are allowed to bring spectators. But, there are several things that observers need to be concerned of. They are as follow:
a). Observers are not allowed to distract any performances in any form.
b). Any person or persons should muted their speaker devices during the debate.
c). All observers must behave in good morale and manners. Inappropriate comments are not allowed.
d). Any violations will be proceeded, discussed and sanctioned by Equity Teams.
e). Observers who violate this rule will be expelled from the competition venue.
